No dogma. No creeds. Just plain religion-free. Oh well, we’d like to be, anyway. But, we freethinking citizens do have to contend with our situation. It is one of living and getting along as unbelievers when the cultural mainstream seems immersed in unthinking faith.
In a nation chock full of a religion-professing population, open unbelief means relocation to a "cultural attic." Fortunately for nonbelievers locally, AOF exists. Check us out. Learn more about our association. As an eclectic group—lots of diverse thinking—we don’t agree on much except the importance of our purpose.
On the local scene, AOFers meet and greet, have programs, do activities and service projects, and try to be visible. We’d like to improve how atheists are viewed and treated in an America that lags behind in its Constitutional ideals concerning "freedom of conscience" for all citizens and "separation of religion and government."
More broadly, AOF is serving as a catalyst for achieving a secular nation that is far more rational, far more humane, and far less dogmatic than the one we’ve got. We’d welcome you to join us in this movement.
AOF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. It is one of 50 member societies of the Atheist Alliance International ("a positive voice for atheism"). AOF also maintains affiliations with the Council for Secular Humanism, American Atheists, and the American Humanist Association.
