Ooh-kay, this might light up your quirk-o-meter. But give it a chance! Our speaker Dawn Lawson went from a horrific childhood to a horrific adolescence, yet crossed the wilderness and emerged with her wit and intellect intact. She will share her hard-won insights as she introduces her pending memoir, How to Rob a Bank in Drag.

Learn the source of that brilliant, teasing title. Learn of her wanderings through a wounded landscape, what kept her alive, what she learned from life on the gritty side. And maybe learn how to rob a bank in drag ... (not kidding, she really did rob banks!) Here are all the pithy elements of a good story: an ax-wielding mom, apartment-complex adventure, dogs, ponies, youthful passion, petiness and grandeur, rejection and acceptance at home and school, fear checked by fast thinking, good and bad people in the substratum of urban life, and a bank robber stashing the cash in a full Kool-Aid pitcher. Yeah. Remember to take notes.
